First Painting of the Year…
Here is a my first painting of the year:) It was commissioned by one of my collectors. Knowing that I love to draw/paint the human body and especially women:)
So this will prove to be a fun project!!!
This was the photo for inspiration….
I’m changing the background and painting the girls in my own style:) It should be cool to see how this one turns out!!!
Here are some sneak peaks to it’s progress….
I sketched it out onto a 36″ x 36″ gallery wrapped canvas and painted in a contrasting base for the background.
I then added a light wash of skin toned pigment for the base of the skin.
Next I will be adding in the shadows and shading for depth.
Now I know a lot of you are wondering why I have not shared any of my work from the current book… This time around the Author has requested that I not post any images until the book is published. Except I can show the cover:) BUT I have to paint out all 30 some odd paintings to figure out what will BE the cover….lol…so it might be a while yet…
I have been so swamped since I got back that I have yet to even scan in and photograph what I do have so far…sigh…but that is what I intend to do this week. I know the author is anxious to see the latest:)
We are hoping to have the book finished by the end of March!!!
Ok so with that I will leave you with a quote….

Remembering December…
Waking up to the pattering rain outside my studio window…I thought back to this past December and how the months had quickly run together… so fast that I did not have time to blog or spotlight some of my winter creations and snapshots. So I thought I would take a moment and share a few of them with you:)
My husband and I made these beautiful mother & daughter aprons for our dear family/friends…made from QT Ellie’s Fun Designer Fabric. We made these as Christmas gifts. I do believe they were a hit:) I just know they will get many years of good use and fond memories out of these.
We attempted a cake..lol..for a birthday…and it was supposed to be a cupcake…but..lol…turned into a duck gnome hut!!! The important thing was that it tasted good right???!!!
We also made a laptop bag for a birthday gift:) It was my first one…and am pretty happy with it though I do think on my next one I will add more stabilizer/interfacing….
So here are some shots I caught in NM of the snow and Quail on my fathers land….
Oh how I just love the big sky sunsets:) So breathtaking…..
~Cheers~

Winter Wishes….
It has been a long cold winter…thinking I could escape it and for the most part I did my going home to New Mexico for the Month of December. Though it did prove to be cold there more than normal and even snowed twice while I was there!!! A rare occasion indeed:) But I escaped the 25″ of snow reprted by neighbors and friends back home on the east coast! So I am thankful for that and so many other things like our neighbors shoveling out our driveway for us:)
I promise to write much more on my time in NM but for now I am playing catch up on goings on in the studio. Above is a photo of one of the commissioned knit pieces that I am working on for Amy….and I have a beautiful black pair I am working on for another client as well:) Sadly these guys have taken a bit longer as I have been swamped in the studio working on the new book “Furbily-Furld” and various projects. So I have been working on these gems whenever I can fit them in. They are inspired by Bella’s gloves in the movie Twilight:) So I really want to get these babies finished up in time for them to enjoy them this winter!!!
Now this is one of my latest projects. A while back I was accepted into the “Landfill Artist Reclamation Project” http://www.landfillart.org/index-2.html
They sent me a pre-primed hubcap!!! It took some time for me to bring it to life…a definite challenge to work on a sloped serface and still make the illusion of a flat surface. All in all I am very pleased with the way it came out. It will be published in a coffee table style book and keep your fingers crossed…maybe even make it into the traveling show!!! Exciting…I really hope it travels so that people all over will get to experience it first hand:)
I hope all of you had a peaceful holiday and I am wishing each and every one of you all the best in the year to come:) Let’s make the best out of what this year brings us…whatever it may be!!!
~Cheers~
